One may assume that cheese fondue was a retro-hip sort of dish. But it is a wrong notion. Actually fondue is flavorful and easy alternative to fussy appetizers or pre-made snacks. On a lonely night, a bowl of fondue surrounded by apples, raw vegetables and bread can be a lovely dinner with wine. This can also be possible for parties. Everyone can do it at home by getting at hand all the needed things.
Gather first the tools that you would cook your fondue into. Fondue set can consist of fondue pot, fondue forks and sharp knives. Pots can be found in electric appliance and fondue can also be done fairly well in an open flame. Forks must be long, stick-like and must have some mark or color for identification.
If classic fondue recipe can be expensive for you some time, you can have this cheese fondue recipe with beer. You may use something that is thick and ale type but experimentations with fondue are always welcome. This one could be more of manly taste as beer will be used.
The ingredients are composed of 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar, 1 cup of shredded Swiss, 1 tablespoon of flour, 1 cup of beer and 1 tablespoon of spicy mustard.
Pour in the beer in the pot and bring to a low boil. Simmer for about 1 minute. Add of cheeses at a time, stirring before the next drop until all of them melts. It’s time for the flour to join the pot and stir until combined and smooth. Once the mixture is already melted, add salt and spicy mustard. And you can start devouring the fondue.
If you want a feminine version, you may use nutmeg instead of spicy mustard and replace the beer with dry white wine. And the directions are the same with the above instructions. You may also want to saut garlic in the pot before pouring in wine or beer.
